Information about the Conference Location
Sheffield is located in the north of England on the edge of the Peak District National Park. It is a popular area for outdoor activities including walking, climbing, potholing, hanggliding and sailing. Originally Sheffield was home to a large steel industry and it is still famous for its cutlery. Nowadays, the steel industry is conducted on a much smaller scale and there has been considerable diversification in employment opportunities.
Built on 7 hills, Sheffield is easy to reach by air, rail and road. From London the train journey is about 2.5 hours. The nearest airports are in Sheffield itself, ( flights from Amsterdam) or Manchester ( less than 1 hour by train – direct line to airport)
