APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS/FUNDING CRITERIA/DEADLINES Deadline: Feb. 1, June 1, or Oct. 1. Two stages: preliminary and full proposal. Preliminary proposal - form of letter no more than three pages in length. Should be concise, clearly written, free from jargon and include: statement of need for the project, its specific purpose, and a description of those whom it will serve; summary of the project, how it is an improvement upon present practice, and expected outcomes; amount of the grant being requested and other sources of funds to be committed to the project; brief description of the applicant organization, its objectives, activities and scope; verification of tax-exempt status.

FUNDS AVAILABLE: Grants typically range from $3,000 to $150,000, averaging $10,000 to $60,000 for both single year and multi-year projects.

FUNDING INTERESTS: Adult literacy. Programs for families and children in crisis. Education, including academic research, public policy and transportation/logistics research.

ELIGIBILITY: Funds selectively. Will consider worthy philanthropic projects or organizations recognized as tax-exempt and classified as non-profit, non-private. Grants supporting large capital campaigns or operating expenses are seldom awarded.

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS/FUNDING CRITERIA/DEADLINES: Deadline: Requests may be sent at any time. Submit proposal not more that 2 pages, in letter form, with the following 8 points included: description and mission of organization; description of project; statement of project's needs; project's goals; how project goals will be attained; how project's success will be evaluated; total cost of project; total amount requested. Current budget and audited financial statement, annual report and copy of the organization's IRS 501 should be submitted with proposal.

FUNDS AVAILABLE: Total established recipients - 91 grants for $2.8 million.
